AdBlue is not a fuel additive, but a high-purity urea solution used in modern diesel engines (Euro 6). Its job is to break down dangerous nitrogen oxides emitted from the exhaust into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. Without it, your car cannot produce cleaner emissions, which is essential for protecting the environment and complying with current legislation.
Don’t worry at all, because your car will notify you well in advance! A specific indicator or message will appear on your dashboard telling you exactly how many kilometers you can still drive. Usually, these warnings start very early (about 2,000 km before it’s empty), so you have plenty of time to get the right container from Geosantro and top it up.
If the fluid runs out while you are driving, the car will not shut off immediately for safety reasons. However, once you stop and turn off the engine, the electronic system will not allow you to restart it until you add AdBlue. This is a safety mechanism to ensure that the vehicle does not circulate without the SCR emissions reduction system functioning.
Quality plays a huge role in your engine's longevity. At Geosantro, we offer AdBlue that meets the strict ISO 22241 standards. If you use a low-quality or adulterated product, you risk causing serious and very expensive damage to the SCR catalyst. By choosing certified materials, you have peace of mind that your injection system will function perfectly for years.
Attention, absolutely not! AdBlue has its own separate filler tank, which usually has a characteristic blue cap and is located either next to the diesel fuel cap or in the engine compartment. If you accidentally pour it into the fuel tank, do not start the engine! You must call roadside assistance immediately to drain the tank, as the damage to the engine could be irreparable.
AdBlue is sensitive to extreme temperatures. To store it correctly, you should keep it in a cool and shaded place, away from direct sunlight. The ideal storage temperature is between -5°C and 25°C. Also, make sure the cap is tightly sealed so that no dust or moisture can enter and contaminate the solution.
