Adhesive Tapes

The right tape can complete a job in two minutes that would otherwise require tools, whilst the wrong tape creates a problem that you’ll end up paying for later. That’s why the range is categorised by use rather than by colour.

At Geosantro, you will find 15-millimetre PVC electrical insulation tapes in nine colours for cable colour-coding, double-sided tapes ranging from 4 to 24 millimetres for screwless fastening, anti-slip and phosphorescent tapes for stairs and ramps, floor marking tapes for warehouses, aluminium tape for air ducts and insulation, PTFE for threads, self-curing silicone tape, duct tape and silent-unwinding packaging tapes.

Each type comes in specific widths and lengths, so you can get the roll that does the job without any waste. Order online or visit our shops in Limassol and Nicosia, with free delivery across Cyprus for purchases over 50 euros. It is a PVC tape with a special adhesive, designed to withstand voltage, heat and moisture. Electricians use it to insulate cable joints, protect bare conductors and colour-code phases. It stretches without tearing, so it wraps tightly around the cable. At Geosantro, you’ll find it in rolls measuring 15 millimetres by 10 metres, as well as in larger sizes.

You’ll find black, white, grey, brown, red, blue, green, yellow and yellow-green. The colours aren’t just for decoration: they follow the colour-coding system for cables, so that the next technician can immediately understand what they’re looking at. Yellow-green always indicates earth, blue indicates neutral, whilst black and brown are used for live wires. It is good practice to keep a roll of each colour in the workshop or in the van.

No. A plastic film is susceptible and improperly placed for a long time in combination with the electrical charge passing through it, causes heating and as a result the plastic film will shrink and melt. In addition, a paper tape or a double sided tape they are completely incorrect choices if you are looking for tapes for electrical work. We recommend choosing an insulating tape if you intend to carry out electrical tasks. If you are unsure which tape to choose, contact the experienced team of Geosantro, so that together we can find the ideal insulation film for you.

PTFE tape, also known as Teflon. It is wound onto the male thread in the direction of screw-up, usually three to five turns, and fills the gaps so that the connection does not leak. It works in water and air, does not harden and requires no drying time. At Geosantro, you will find it in a roll measuring 12 millimetres by 12 metres, with a thickness of one-tenth of a millimetre.

It does not stick to the surface; it sticks to itself. When wrapped and stretched, the layers bond together to form a single elastic sleeve that seals against water and air. It is used for temporary repairs to pipes or hoses, for sealing joints and for cables that need to remain watertight. It is resistant to moisture, UV radiation and a wide range of temperatures, and can be removed cleanly when no longer required. At Geosantro, it is available in black, in 25.4-millimetre rolls.

In air ducts, in insulation and anywhere else where a seal is required that can withstand high temperatures and is impervious to moisture. Aluminium foil reflects heat, making it the right choice for air conditioning and thermal insulation. It adheres well to clean, dry and smooth surfaces, free from dust or grease. At Geosantro, you’ll find it in widths of 50 and 100 millimetres, in rolls of 10 and 50 metres respectively.

Duct tape has a fabric backing and very strong adhesive; it can be torn by hand and adheres to uneven surfaces, which is why it is ideal for repairs and temporary fixings. Packing tape is a thin PP film, designed to seal cardboard boxes quickly and economically. They are two different tools and neither can replace the other for any serious job. Duct tape costs more per metre, so we don’t waste it on boxes.

The width depends on the weight and the contact area. The 4 and 12 millimetre sizes are suitable for thin decorative fixings and slats, whilst the 19 and 24 millimetre sizes can support mirrors, signs and profiles. The greater the width, the greater the holding force. Always clean the surface before installation, as dust and grease drastically reduce adhesion.

On steps, ramps, mezzanines, machine rooms and anywhere there is a risk of slipping. The surface must be clean, dry and free from oil, otherwise the tape will peel up at the edges. Press down firmly with a roller after application and leave it to set for a few hours. It is available in black, transparent, phosphorescent and black-and-yellow, in widths of 25 and 50 millimetres.

The floor marking tape, 50 millimetres wide and 33 metres long. Black and yellow indicates danger or a caution sign, whilst red and white is used for ‘no entry’ signs and to mark clear passageways. It adheres to concrete and industrial flooring, withstands forklift traffic and can be removed when the layout of the space changes, without the need to repaint the floor afterwards.

Ordinary masking tape is ideal for quick masking when painting a room. For paintwork that goes in the oven or for surfaces that get hot, you need heat-resistant masking tape, which leaves no residue and does not burn. In all cases, remove it whilst the paint is still wet and pull it off at an angle so that the line is clean and the paint underneath isn’t lifted.

Pull slowly and at an angle of about forty-five degrees, not vertically. A little heat from a hairdryer softens the adhesive and is very helpful with tape that has been there for a long time. If any residue remains, clean it off with a special adhesive remover or with alcohol and a soft cloth, after first testing it on an inconspicuous area. Never scrape with a metal spatula, as this will permanently scratch the surface.
